Queer as folk david9/2/2023 ![]() ![]() ![]() Davies’ shows Queer as Folk (1999) and Cucumber (2015) and how the content has changed over the years between them. I have chosen to focus on how the channel represents homosexual characters in their programmes. The public service remit says that Channel 4’s programming should appeal to the ‘tastes and interests of a culturally diverse society’ (Channel 4, 2010). Channel 4 was set up with the idea that it would produce TV that ‘demonstrates innovation, experimentation and creativity’. They are bound by their remit to create media that fits with their channel’s ethos and represents all minorities. Channel 4 claim to show content that appeals to all audiences.
